This is a really nice piece and another rare find. It is in Excellent condition but needs a new bamboo handle, easily replaced. Shigaraki-yaki(ware) is well known pottery as a one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, has been built in Koga area and Shiga Prefecture, Shigaraki area.
By local sandy clay from the Lake BIWA and with the traditional skills, Shigaraki-yaki is made as a very durable pottery. 6 1/2" from handle to edge. It is 5 1/2" tall. A very Beautiful Piece. Very modern looking.
